IDEA Fame Pitch Competition & Razorback Football

Startup Junkie is partnering with Arkansas Athletics to bring an event to Razorback Stadium. For a chance to win $1,000, contestants will pitch their idea for a business, product, service, or solution on the new Dickson Deck in the north end zone at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The event begins at 11:00am, and the $25 registration for contestants and audience includes a ticket to the North Texas vs. Arkansas Football Game.

The IdeaFame Live contest, a 60-Second Elevator Pitch Contest hosted across the state of Arkansas, promotes startups, new ideas, and entrepreneurship. Prizes of $1,000 are awarded for both the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice winners. Official contest rules and registration can be found here.

Fribourgh Award Reception

The Annual Fribourgh Award recognizes contributions to Arkansas through science and mathematics. Proceeds from this year’s awards reception will go to endow a scholarship in the Davis Family name. These funds help UA Little Rock attract and retain high-achieving full-time students in science and mathematics.

The 2018 honoree is Cory Davis ’00. As a partner and principal consultant at the Center for Toxicology and Environmental Health (CTEH), a management, technology, and science-based consulting firm based in North Little Rock, Davis has spent his career traveling across the country to help manage the fallout from disasters.  For more information,  click here

Little Rock Tech Fest 2018

Little Rock Tech Fest is a big deal!  Two days of sessions on technology,  opportunities for networking with hundreds of other attendees and visiting the booths of Arkansas tech companies.  Last year there were over 400 attendees.  For more information,  to submit a session proposal,  or to register go to http://www.lrtechfest.com/   There are scholarships available for high school computer science teachers.  Email techtober@gmail.com for information on those.

An air show and STEM Expo in the heart of Techtober!  This should be the event with the largest attendence this year.  LRAFB is looking for STEM partners to fill one or more hangers (each the size of three football fields) with exhibits.  There will be lots to see and do in the air and on the ground.  This might be the largest STEM event in Arkansas history.
